  1. What a clever challenge – I’ll bet it gets very hard, very soon… good luck! 😉
hmmm… I might have to try it myself.

    1. I’m curious to see how hard it gets. I could zoom in much closer on things – the glittery pen cup, the grain of the desk wood – and even now, I’m noticing things I haven’t written yet. I won’t bore y’all with all the installments, but I’m curious for myself to see what comes of it. One thing it is inspiring me to do is build a lexicon about furniture woods: types, colors, words for grains, knots, etc. Those are the words I’m grasping for every day – what kind of wood is that shelf? How do I describe the spacing of the grain? I can see how this could lead down rabbit holes.

  2. Concise morning writing, Andrea. A good reason to take me back to the practice. And I know that itchy feeling. Think maybe I scratch it by commenting on blogs. hmmmmm.

  3. I so enjoyed this, Andrea, and am inspired to slow down and get more tactile with my morning writing practice. Thank you!

    1. It is my pleasure, Jamie. My writing groups is working from Priscilla Long’s The Writer’s Portable Mentor, and one of the exercises includes focusing on color for a here and now exercise. I have a feeling I will be coming up with scores of words for brown.
