  1. I am (was) a journalist and it is very difficult to photograph and interview people. Guess that’s why I ended up blogging. Love this repost, Andrea.

  2. I am so glad you re-posted this! I am such a fan of thru-hikers. My husband and I did a 550 mile stretch of the PCT years ago, it was a trip of a lifetime. You captured the AT beautifully and I love that you understand everyone hikes their own hike. No real reason to intrude on another hikers journey. I so enjoyed reading this, thank you.

    1. It was my pleasure. My husband said the same thing about not intruding – I’m glad I didn’t butt in. And wow, I imagine that was the experience of a lifetime! Hiking that far together must have been life-shaping. Thanks so much for stopping by – I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

      1. “Life-shaping” is a beautiful way to put it. Yes, it was. Two kids later and living as “grown-ups” for 7 years since makes me so grateful that we carved out the time to experience each of those miles together.

  3. Wonderful post with great photos. I understand feeling reluctant to shove into people’s lives. It’s something I always struggle with as a writer! I also plan to hike the Appalachian Trail one day. Thanks for (re)sharing.
