I admit. I fell off the writing wagon for about a month. This past week, I began writing again, and I’ve burned through almost all of the prompts in my prompt box. There are only about six more slips of paper in there. Will you help me fill it back up?
Feed me your favorite word, a vivid scene, an unlikely pairing. A piece of dialog, an object, a potent verb. I’ll write them on slips of paper and put them in my tea tin of ideas.
Some past prompts I’ve written from:
rolling pins
ocean
ink
thunderstorms
sun on my skin
You get the idea. I look forward to your words. Thank you!
This feels like “you are carrying” ! Here’s some ideas drawn from my work case:
an expired library card
a receipt for flowers
cotton swabs
one-half of a pair of scissors

These are excellent. Adding to the box. Thank you!

Love! You and me are word-pals. I’ve written about grit before :-). However, I do not think it was a ten-minute write, so I’m adding it to the box. Thank you!

Thanks. I was actually thinking about the other grit, as in sand or its metaphorical equivalent. π

I’ll let you decide if that constitutes a vivid scene or an unlikely pairing.

There’s a spring storm here at the moment. I love what it does with the lines in my drawings. New ways to explore, a bit frightening and exciting too.

Counterfeit. Also when I’m stuck I try to think of a strange collection of items in a shopping cart or a suitcase and what they could be used for all together (and the person who uses them).

Tom Cox wrote a lovely piece in The Guardian recently on how a country walk can surround you with words more inspiring to the writing mind than the sort of thing you’re likely to be sitting amongst at home: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/mar/25/a-good-walk-the-perfect-way-to-clear-your-head?CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2
So with this in mind, how about some words from my part of the world –
kissing gate
dry-stone wall
fingerpost

Hands, especially the hands of an elderly person. They’ve done so much, if they could tell their story, I think it would be fascinating.
