I’ve been waiting for autumn to arrive, and it is here. I’m sitting on the couch in sweatpants, with a wool blanket over my lap and a kitten curled up next to me. The wind whips at our house, and it whistles over the chimney like when you blow air across the top of a glass bottle.
It’s been raining for days. Soccer was cancelled. It’s too wet to mow the lawn. For the first weekend in months, there was not. one. thing. on the calendar. Instead of doing house projects — painting trim, ripping out shrubbery — like we usually do during down time, you know what I did instead? I read an entire book yesterday.
It was a good day.
Today I’m making chicken noodle soup and helping our daughter bake bread. I’m going to wear slippers all day long. And I’ve started my next book, this time set in Illinois. A perfect October book: Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.
It begins with a thunderstorm. I already love it.
This is my favorite time of the year. Actually, all of the months, October through December, are my favorite. And, a crisp autumn, rainy day after a long, hot summer are the best. Have fun with the soup, bread, and another good book! π

Wonderful for you! Times like these are perfection, or, as close as we can get to perfection.

aaaaaaaaaaah yes, nothing iking being able to read a book in a day. This month is special fro me because it’s my daughter’s birthday on the 13th and 1 month until mine π -It seems like it is always the simple things in life that bring us so much joy as smile here, gentle tug to pull the duvet higher too.

I finished three books in a day. It really was quite refreshing. But I did want to scream about what happened to some of the characters…
Anyway, it’s a good post.

Though I hate being cold, I’m always content when winter shrugs at our corner of the world. Today, I washed all the fleece blankets and vests. Blankets are on my bed; vest is nearby; and I look forward to not leaving the house (that is, after the gardens are finally put to bed for the winter or maybe I’ll just clean them in the spring), and I curl into the house.

Hello Andrea, okay? I am Brazilian, I write of Campo Grande-MS, almost in the center of Brazil. Do not speak English, I read your texts and write using the google translator, I hope you can understand what I write to you. I could understand your text, climate impressions, wind noise, the cat on the couch. Very good! A big hug.

Sounds so cliche. Like the things we see in movies. But it’s exactly what we all want. I’m happy for you my fellow being (:

Autumn is my favourite time of the year, too. Sadly, I am on the other side of the world and Spring has just arrived! I love hayfever allergies.

We definitely start to appreciate what we have around this time -the kitties won’t leave me alone, hot water bottle, and excuse to sit and do some serious reading – or gaming! This described perfectly a good evening to me, thank you for sharing. π – CW
