The humbling experience of reading diversely

  1. Yes, literature offers the unique opportunity to explore the margins which we otherwise cannot see by giving voice to the silenced. Modern/contemporary American literature is especially poliphonic. That’s why I value it so much (I majored in it at uni).

    Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
    Sula by Tony Morrison
House Made of Dawn by N.S. Momaday
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zola Neale Hurston

These books and others still echo in my mind. I wouldn’t be who I am if not for them! Good luck with your project! I will try to follow more actively.
