Digitizing my diaries

  1. I’ve thought about digitizing all of my journals too. I think it would be interesting to see if my writing has improved over the years. I also love the idea of being able to search for things easily. But I know it will be a massive job and so I haven’t done it yet. I will be interested to see how your project goes. I wish you good luck!

  2. I’m trying to digitise my late mother in laws recipes. Hard hard going. I’ve found the quickest most fun way to do it is Apple Pencil and an app to convert my hand writing. Can totally relate to the battle of the journals

  3. I like to think the value of journaling is as much about figuring out how to identify your thoughts, and then transform those thoughts into (mostly?) coherent words, rather than technical style or ability (although I bet those things improve too). It may be that your writing doesn’t improve technically or stylistically, but I’d argue that the quality of your thoughts, and your ability to convey those thoughts when you’ve got reason to (say, when you’re writing something outside of a journal!) _is_ improved. And isn’t that what writing is all about?

  4. I did the same thing when I was little, I used to write little poems and short stories spontaneously in and out of 3 years. I’m currently in college pursuing a career as a music journalist. I would like for to check out one of my posts on my blog, mistoodkat and let me know what you think.
