I may very well come to regret this – can I handle another blog? – but Andrea Reads America is packing its bags and moving to its own site:
I am nervous about maintaining two blogs – I have already received feedback from another blogger that managing two brands can be challenging – but nesting Andrea Reads America in Butterfly Mind made me squirmy. I wanted to organize the project so that it was more navigable, with easy links to resources, maps, and state-by-state literature capsules.
Over the next few weeks I will gradually move the content I have published here over to the new site, along with posts that include favorite quotes from each state’s book selections. I will continue to post updates on Butterfly Mind until I’ve unpacked all the boxes at the new place, and then I will make all project-related entries on Andrea Reads America. If you have been watching Andrea Reads America and would like to continue following, please join me on the new site. I can’t wait to see you over there.
I am reading America: 3 books from each state in the US with the following authorships represented – women, men, and non-Caucasian writers. To follow along, please visit me at andreareadsamerica.com.
You are my inspiration!

Best of luck with the new blog. I like the format you’ve chosen. I am anxious to see how it goes for you. I struggle with just maintaining one while juggling writing classes, work and family activities. Unfortunately, it’s always my writing that seems to get let behind.

Thank you, Barb. I hope I can manage them both. I think I will still write the same amount I am currently writing, it will just be split between two blogs. I think moving Andrea Reads America to its own site makes more sense than to have it here, especially once I’ve read more than three states 😉 I will have to get used to only posting here less frequently though – I know I’m not going to like that part at first. Thank you for your well wishes.

I think this is a great idea and have total faith in your abilities! I started a separate blog to keep my food writing funneled out of my miscellaneous other topics, and I like how clean it looks. I plan to visit both your blogs again soon and find out what you are up to. Have fun!

Very inspirational! If you don’t have entries for Puerto Rico or West Virginia, I’d recommend my historical novel, A DECENT WOMAN, set in turn of the century Puerto Rico. I was born in Puerto Rico and live in West Virginia. My debut novel will be published by Booktrope in Summer 2014. Thanks and best of luck with the new blog!
