We are a family of hikers. The four of us pile into the car and drive off into the hills to hang out with each other and explore nature.
When we don’t have time for a full blown hike in the mountains, our kids and I like to connect with each other and with nature in walks through our neighborhood. We pull our Flower Fairies books off the shelves and go out into the world, equipped with poetry.
The photograph shows our daughter on a chilly autumn day bidding farewell to summer with “The Song of the Marigold Fairy.”
I thought I’d take this Photo101: Connect challenge all the way: this is my first post ever that was shot, written, edited, and published entirely from my phone.
Nice job! Not only does this photo capture the book with the flowers, it also includes the reader sitting among real flowers. Love it ๐

I haven’t done much hiking, but like you I do love the mountains and their spectacular offerings. I used to trail ride in places that most people never see. While you take books with you, Magi and I used to carry a sketch book and a camera, along with us to enjoy Mother Nature’s songs and sights, which often provided the subject matter to relive later. I’ll leave a link in the event you are wondering who Magi is.

Lovely photo of your daughter reading the book and you could actually see the flower fairies in the book.

I enjoy the perspective. What i experience as passing through layers of space. Your daughter’s cheek, her thumbs, the flowers on the page in the book, the flowers behind the book and the planters with a ‘step’ like pattern that guides my eyes back and out. Reminds me of the layers in “Alice in Wonderland”.

I remember those books! My grandma had very few books for kids so every time we visited her I ended up reading them!

Aww, I love that! The kids and I have so much fun hunting for flowers throughout the seasons. I hope they have good memories of the books like you do ๐
