Call for prompts

I admit. I fell off the writing wagon for about a month. This past week, I began writing again, and I’ve burned through almost all of the prompts in my prompt box. There are only about six more slips of paper in there. Will you help me fill it back up?

Feed me your favorite word, a vivid scene, an unlikely pairing. A piece of dialog, an object, a potent verb. I’ll write them on slips of paper and put them in my tea tin of ideas.

Some past prompts I’ve written from:

rolling pins
ocean
ink
thunderstorms
sun on my skin

You get the idea. I look forward to your words. Thank you!

  1. This feels like “you are carrying” ! Here’s some ideas drawn from my work case:

    an expired library card

    a receipt for flowers

    cotton swabs

one-half of a pair of scissors

  2. Robin’s egg blue

  3. Spring
    Waiting
    Read between the lines

There’s a spring storm here at the moment. I love what it does with the lines in my drawings. New ways to explore, a bit frightening and exciting too.

  5. Counterfeit. Also when I’m stuck I try to think of a strange collection of items in a shopping cart or a suitcase and what they could be used for all together (and the person who uses them).

  6. You will never stop writing!

  7. Hands, especially the hands of an elderly person. They’ve done so much, if they could tell their story, I think it would be fascinating.

    • I really like “hands” What a great prompt! “Older hands that have done so much…a start to a wonderful story! Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. What a great idea! Promt Box is pretty genius on it’s own, let alone a 10 minute writing session. Thank you for allowing others’ ideas to inspire you!

Love your prompt & writing daily idea. Such discipline and structure seems more than I can sustain for more than a week. Kudos to you for staying with it.

  10. Just love the idea ‘call for prompts’. I think I will copy this from you on my blog. Would love to write short stories. ๐Ÿ™‚
