Haiku of a gathering winter

Winter stream with icicles, boulders, and moss on andreabadgley.com

A single leaf falls
on my freshly swept porch.
Sigh.

Leaves rain down.
Still,
I rake.

Autumn deluge
rinses leaf dust,
til air is brisk, shiny.

I open the door
on morning –
green scent of pine.

Autumn frost –
sugarcoated oak leaves
sparkle in the sun.

Winter grass glitters,
its diamond crust twinkling –
I smile.

Crystal puddle –
a skating pond
for ice fairies.

Cold air burns my eyes,
I smell earth and crisp leaves.
I am awake!
